Your Data, Your Control: Privacy in Gazepoint Software

Your Data, Your Control: Privacy in Gazepoint Software

In research, data security and participant privacy are not optional—they’re essential. Whether you’re conducting academic research or commercial usability testing, safeguarding your data is critical to maintaining trust, ensuring compliance, and protecting intellectual property.

At Gazepoint, we understand that many of our customers work with sensitive information. That’s why our software is designed with a simple, powerful principle in mind: you stay in control of your data.

What Data Is Stored When You Run a Project?

For complete control and privacy, all data generated using Gazepoint Analysis and Gazepoint Control are stored locally on the computer running the experiment. No data is transmitted to any external servers.

That means:

  • No experiment data is uploaded to external servers
  • No gaze data is transmitted to the cloud
  • No participant information leaves your local machine
  • No automatic syncing or background data sharing occurs

Everything remains on the computer you use to run your study.

What Types of Data Are Stored Locally?

During an experiment, Gazepoint software may generate and store:

  • Gaze position data (X/Y coordinates)
  • Participant gaze video
  • Fixations and saccades
  • Areas of Interest (AOI) definitions
  • Stimulus files and project configurations
  • Participant metadata (if entered by the researcher)

All of this information is saved directly to your local storage. You determine where project files are stored, how they are organized, and how they are backed up.

No Cloud Dependency

Unlike some research platforms that rely on cloud-based processing or server-side storage, Gazepoint’s approach eliminates:

  • Internet-based data transmission
  • Third-party cloud storage exposure
  • Server-side data retention policies
  • External vulnerabilities related to remote databases

Your lab, institution, or organization maintains complete control over how data is secured, archived, or deleted.

Designed for Research Compliance

Because all data remain local, Gazepoint software can more easily integrate into environments with strict privacy requirements, including:

  • University research ethics protocols
  • Institutional data governance policies
  • Industry confidentiality standards
  • Secure research environments

You are responsible for implementing your organization’s security practices—such as encryption, restricted access, or secure backups—but the software itself does not transmit or store your data externally.

Your Data. Your Control.

At Gazepoint, we believe that eye-tracking research should empower you—not introduce uncertainty about where your data lives.

By keeping all experiment and analysis data local to your machine, Gazepoint ensures:

  • Maximum privacy
  • Full institutional control
  • Clear data ownership

Research with confidence. Keep your data where it belongs—with you. Contact us to learn more!
