Introducing Software Update Gazepoint v7.2.0

Introducing Software Update Gazepoint v7.2.0

We’re excited to announce the release of Gazepoint v7.2.0, delivering major enhancements to Areas of Interest (AOIs)—one of the most important tools for eye-tracking research. This release focuses on improving AOI usability, precision, and flexibility, especially for studies involving dynamic stimuli.

Whether you are analyzing video content, web interfaces, or mobile device interaction, Gazepoint v7.2.0 provides new tools that make AOI creation and analysis more intuitive and powerful.

Redesigned AOI Settings Interface

Gazepoint Analysis v7.2.0 introduces a new user interface for the AOI settings window, simplifying how AOIs and AOI keyframes are created and edited.

Gazepoint Analysis AOI Settings Window

Key improvements include:

  • A more intuitive layout for managing AOIs
  • Undo / Redo functionality for AOI keyframes, making it easier to refine dynamic AOIs
  • Support for both rectangle and ellipse AOIs, allowing you to choose the shape that best matches your stimulus
  • Ability to toggle between pixel and percentage units, to better support different experimental display configurations

These updates streamline the AOI workflow and reduce friction when working with complex or animated AOI setups.

Frame-by-Frame AOI Export for Dynamic Analysis

Gazepoint Analysis v7.2.0 also expands AOI export data fields, enabling frame-by-frame export of AOI information for advanced analysis.

New AOI export fields include:

  • X position
  • Y position
  • Width
  • Height
  • Viewed state

When AOIs are animated using keyframes, these fields allow you to determine the exact position, size, and viewing state of each AOI at any point in time. This is particularly valuable for:

  • Video-based and time-varying stimuli
  • Moving UI elements or overlays
  • Custom post-processing in MATLAB, Python, R, or other analysis tools

Built for Real-World Eye-Tracking Research

With v7.2.0, Gazepoint continues to evolve alongside the needs of modern eye-tracking research. By improving AOI creation and expanding export capabilities, this release makes it easier to perform more in-depth analyses.

Gazepoint v7.2.0 is available now and fully compatible with Gazepoint eye trackers, including the Gazepoint GP3 and Gazepoint GP3 HD. We encourage all users working with AOIs—especially animated or dynamic stimuli—to update and explore these new capabilities.

We look forward to seeing how our customers use these tools to gain new insights from eye-tracking data. To get started with Gazepoint software, contact us to learn more!
